It’s insane how similar toddlers and dogs can be. Very often, when in the presence of wee babies, I compare their silliness to my dog, Lola. Sometimes people understand and a lot of times they take offense because I am comparing their child to a “dog”.
But the thing is, I feel like I birthed my puppy (Yes, I am aware of how weird this sounds). She is my little furry animal baby. Does anyone else feel like they gave birth to their puppy? Do you get what I am saying?

Sree love love love your blog. As for fur babies and feminism and fun diets, I am completely on board with you. I am perhaps more rabid when it comes to dogs vs babies cause I only love dogs. My fur baby is my bundle of joy and my only baby.

Hello, I just had to comment on this post in particular, because I have just spent the night on the sofa, due to our dog taking over the entire bed at 3am! For a small dog, she sure takes up a LOT of room 😀 Loving your bright colourful work 🙂

So I am guessing your furbaby is a spoilt little baby too! And i totally understand what you mean- lola’s a medium size dog and when she sleeps on her back and kicks out all four legs, the bed becomes hers basically.

I totally get what you mean, I have a furbaby and he is my world. Taj gets birthday parties, Christmas presents, attends daycare, has play dates and travels the world. When I got him I promised him the most amazing life, like any parent does and I take my furbaby responsibility seriously. I am totally guilty of comparing Taj’s behavior to kids. Sounds like Lola is a very lucky and much loved dog!

This is the best articulated response ever! You’ve put it so well sarah. When we got lola thats exactly how we felt and not for one minute did we think of her as anything less than our baby! But a lot of the times people really don’t get it. We still hear a lot of things from time to time but weve gotten used to it now :))

We got the comments a lot too, especially the whole “he’s just a dog” thing, its hard to hear people put something you love so much down like that. I for one know we are not alone in our thinking, I like to think its just because we have big hearts that we can our furbabys so much, after all pets are part of the family too. 🙂

I think anything, person, or pet we love we feel like we gave birth.
