Flowers from childhood

So, wonder of wonders. The Botanical Gardens on the island have a flower that is so intricately meshed with memories of my childhood that I pretty much ignored all the other gorgeous orchids and roses on display.

In Bengali, this little perfectly formed white flower is called Togor. It has five petals, with a mildly yellow centre and looks a bit like a pristine white pinwheel 😀

We used to make little wreaths and wear it in our hair, hold a single flower between our ring and little fingers like a floral ring. Oh the memories.
