Feel free to download and use as you like. These are hi-res images and can be printed in any color.

I had made these for a CSR initiative of my company. This and a couple more designs were screen printed on cards and sold to our staff to raise funds. Thought these might help you begin a new love story this Valentine’s day. : )

Do what you love

Unfortunately, not all of us can do what we love for a living. We still need jobs that pay the rent. But it’s a good idea to try to have that one thing that nourishes your soul. For me, art is a little oasis I retrear to when I am stressed. It’s an escape into a calm, happy place where I feel entirely at peace for a little while.

I’ve always wondered what it must be like to kiss a man with a full face of beard. Do beards get in the way? Do they chafe? Do you discover cookie crumbs and then become entirely engrossed in trying to pick them out? I don’t know. But I was at the beach a few weeks ago when I saw this couple taking selfies. They seemed very much in love and totally fine with the beard situation.

So, I sketched them and came up with this bad pun on Weird Love; Beard Love.

Obsessing over a song

31 Thursday Jul 2014

samjhawan

I don’t know if this happens to you, but sometimes I get obsessed with a song and then I listen to it over and over and over, on a loop.

The past few days it has been a song by Pakistani singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (you can find it here). It’s a song about eternal love and longing and waiting. There’s some poetic complaining about heart break. It’s beautiful, even if you don’t know what the lyrics mean.

So of course, I had to draw something pointless about it, with what are probably wildly incorrect Hindi spellings of Punjabi words. I am not sad right now, but I figured someone somewhere is sure to be.

Join the Dots

DOTS

I have spewed out all the dots.

Connecting the dots may seem easy and possibly rewarding to you. But it will just end up in scribbles and intersecting lines all over the page. No shape or form will emerge to provide clarity. Because my dots are merely truths. Not design.

Treacherous

“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.”
― John Green, Paper Towns
I always make this mistake. And it is treacherous indeed.

Blame the stars

We all need somebody or something to pin the blame on. Isn’t it easier to fault the stars instead ?

someone should have already told you that

something not everyone knows how to love.

She and I

” I was awkward and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane.”

A Fantastic Lie

A Fantastic Lie

Everyone knows how this feels. Slew of arrows aimed at the back, right through the ribs.
So, you didn’t just meet her two weeks ago. So it has been on for a while. And so you decided to tell me a fantastic lie right before you announced marriage.

That’s fine. Because for six of the best years of my life, I was under your thumb struggling to breathe, to come of age, to become my own person.
Now, for the rest of your life, you will be under her thumb.
The dramatic production that is your life will continue while I am reminded to be thankful, every day, that I left you.

Some Nights

Some nights have melancholy in the air,
when the breeze whispers the names of lost loves, loved ones gone too soon.
Some nights are all about crying into your coffee cup

Bubbling away

Bubbling away

My most recent acquisition is a bubble maker from ToysRus. It’s massive and blows tens of huge bubbles at one time.
I cannot stop myself from smiling when I look at the float-y little wonders dancing around in the air.

It’s also kind of therapeutic. If you are angry or tensed, try blowing bubbles. It will feel like you are scattering our troubles in the wind. Each bubble holds your hurt and anger and fear inside it. And when these bubbles disappear with a pop, so do your troubles. At least momentarily.
