I have news about my furbaby, Lola. I was going to order a doggy raincoat for her and so I called home to find out her exact measurements. The numbers my father gave me over the phone would more aptly describe a little ‘takiya”( a fat cylindrical indian side-pillow) rather than a dog standing at a whopping height of 19 inches from the ground.

Lola is a Fatty Mcfatty now. And all the exercise and diet food in the world will not help because she likes to beg and my parents always oblige. She also likes to be carried around the house like a baby, so this is alarming news.

But also cute. ‘Cuz now when she does her two-legged happy dance, all that junk in her trunk makes it even more adorable.

I did this custom illustration for a friend whose 5 year old was demanding too much attention when she was busy with her older kid. She snapped , “I am doing something for your brother, can you not see?”

“You have two babies but I have just one mother”, pat came the reply in the sweetest voice.

It’s insane how similar toddlers and dogs can be. Very often, when in the presence of wee babies, I compare their silliness to my dog, Lola. Sometimes people understand and a lot of times they take offense because I am comparing their child to a “dog”.

But the thing is, I feel like I birthed my puppy (Yes, I am aware of how weird this sounds). She is my little furry animal baby. Does anyone else feel like they gave birth to their puppy? Do you get what I am saying?
