Singapore Street Fashion - 1

Singapore is super fashionable, though a tad predictable sometimes. Thankfully, the island is such a mishmash of nationalities that if you go the right parts of the city, you get to see some great fashion outside of the usual branded bores. I tend to lean toward the eclectic dressers, mixing high end with street cool, designer sunglasses with rainbow hair, etc.  I also love Korean fashion in all sorts of drapey, futuristic shapes. And as in the illustration above, my absolute fave is Japanese street style in Singapore. Their use of color, personal style choices, quirky accessories and shoes make them stand out among a sea of short shorts and LV Neverfull bags. Japanese men too wear the best suits and their hair is always on point. The only trend I have a little trouble getting behind is the ultra dramatic fake lashes.

kimono

After searching high and low for a dramatic kimono, I finally found the most awesome, leather trimmed, black and white kimono, with a vintage rose print – at zalora.com. I wear it with my denims, or a jersey maxi or a long black skirt and tank. It adds just the right amount of glam to an an otherwise meh outfit. I especially love that it was super cheap.

PS: Zalora did not pay me to do this post. I just love my new kimono so much that I drew a picture of me in it, at the park, in my floral headband from Lovisa — another great shop for jewelry and headbands. If you want to see the actual kimono, message me and I’ll be happy to share the link with you 🙂

Does anyone else feel that adding a pair of beautiful sunnies to any outfit makes you more glam? Sometimes, even when I am dressed like a slob, I put on my Dior tortoise shell sunglasses and feel like a movie star.

OPI

I’d be lying if I said I don’t dream of being one of the “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills”, carrying a Birkin as a gym bag, scooping up Chanel like candy, and of course, never ever having chipped nails.

Outside my day dreams, I do at-home manicures (often not so much) and my nails chip in exactly 24 hours. So I am not a big fan of nail polish and I have never fancied any shade of nail color in my life.

That is until I discovered OPI’s Bogota Blackberry during one of my annual in-salon manicures. Now I am obsessed with this retro color that reminds me of Femina in the late 80’s, my mother’s feet and Madhuri Dikshit in a yellow backless choli that was the beginning of all our of our sexual awakening.
